Can't play any video (encrypted container)

Hello there,

I have a container in my android device where I store some files.

I'm doing some tests with videos and it seems that VLC cannot play any video which is encrypted. I'm using EDS and whenever I click a file to play it with VLC it says "the location file///null cannot be played". If I try again, it says "unable to play multiple files".

The thing is that those files can actually be played by other players (I'm trying to use VLC because of it multi codecs support).
I'm trying with a non-root Samsung S21FE (and its native video player) running android 12.

Is there anything I have to do to make it to work, or perhaps VLC does not support this feature?

Which are these "other players"? Could you also please share some logs? Reproduce the issue and then go to: Settings > Advanced > Debug logs. Then share the logs with the sharing service you prefer (Google Drive, Dropbox, pastebin...).

I've tried with Samsung Video and MX Player so far, but if I should try with any other, just tell me, please.

I've contact with the EDS forum, and some people said that previous versions of VLC was working, but I don't know which one and I haven't tried myself neither (I don't if it's helpful to you, though).

Unfortunately, there is nothing more in the logs.

libvlc input: Creating an input for 'null'

means that the app is not able to treat the file that is send back by EDS. I am not sure what we are doing wrong though. I'll take a look.

Could you please send your container configuration? I am not able to reproduce your issue with EDS lite.
