Could you please share some logs? Reproduce the issue and then go to: Settings > Advanced > Debug logs. Then share the logs with the sharing service you prefer (Google Drive, Dropbox, pastebin...).

I know about all of this. But this bug seems to be slightly different as the upnp shares seems to not be available at all. That's why I need logs to see if it's the same issue as https://code.videolan.org/videolan/vlc/-/issues/27173

This problem is most popular, please update the vlc or downgrade the vlc on play store to working version.

Downgrading is not possible. And yes, we are working on a fix and want to release it as soon as possible.

I have been using the VLC program practically from the very beginning and I have never had an unpleasant experience that the program does not work as needed. I don't know where the problem is, but the test department is probably at fault. The last version is - to put it mildly - very underdeveloped, and to put it more bluntly - it should not see the publication at all.

I am the person in charge, so thanks for your kind words I guess...
This version has been tested for 4 months by hundreds of thousands beta testers and yes, we somehow missed this issue.

We in fact found a fix yesterday and the issue was in a library that we use. See: https://github.com/pupnp/pupnp/pull/406

We are currently finalizing a 3.5.1 beta 1 that should be published later today.

A new beta version (3.5.1 Beta 01) has been released. It should fix this issue.

Could someone please confirm that the issue is fixed. if you don't want to enter the beta program, you can just install this beta version here: http://get.videolan.org/testing/android/3.5.1-beta-1/

Hello, I am experiencing partially similar issue.
- discovering DLNA (UPnP) on home (LAN) network is working properly.
- discovering DLNA (UPnP) over Wireguard (VPN) stops working (previously it was working for me).
- discovering DLNA (UPnP) over Wireguard (VPN) by different applications (UPnP Tool, BubbleUPnP) working properly.

I also tested your 3.5.1-beta-1 on Android with same result - not working only over Wireguard (VPN).

I retrieved logs from Androind from 3.5.1-beta-1, and shared with you in - more infor I sent in PM.

I am using VLC to both play video from my network server and to view video streams from my HDHomerun network TV tuner.

In a fairly recent previous verion of VLC, not sure which version, my upnp list of channels on my HDHomerun were fine. With the latest version, 3.5, the list was empty.

I then updated to the latest beta from the Google Play store, 3.5.1 beta 1, and the list became populated again.

@Aza
Sorry, i was report a problem with dlna. I don't install a beta version of vlc with "repaired" problems. Please export for google play a final version of vlc for android, and i will test it.
Now i don't see any updates.

@reddy1975: your issue seems to be a bit different than the one described in this post. I'll send your log to the persons being able to take a look.

@vlcLurker1996: glad to read the beta fixed the issue for you

@anchorek: I get your point. This beta is available on the Play Store, but you have to be subscribed to the beta program to see it. It's always safe to refuse installing apks from the web, but in this case, it's from our website.
Another solution (once again, i'd totally get it if you don't want to) is to install a nightly version. This version is a debug one that won't override your current VLC for Android but will install besides it (with a green icon instead of the orange one). As DLNA/UPnP doesn't need any permission, you could install it, refuse all the permissions, test if the bug is fixed and then uninstall it. If you want to try, you can get it here: https://artifacts.videolan.org/vlc-andr ... tly-arm64/ (choose the most recent one).

just little feedback related to DLNA issue

from my test with latest release 3.5.1 yesterday, its not fully fixed

device with android 9 and above/newer, DLNA issue seems fixed

but somehow the issue still happen with device with android 5, so i just rollback to 3.4.3 and disable auto-update

If you are still reproducing, some logs would be useful.

Had a similar issue, since the update, things are dragging. Loading, playlists, I lost my music that was on a few playlists, no idea why, didn't delete or move the files/folders, just overnight, poof !
I'm trying a nightly build now, and it has found all my network shares and devices, plus it's super quick.
Thanks for the suggestion earlier in the thread. 👍
Please @Aza, roll it out as soon as you can, there are some very long time users that aren't impressed right now, I know, I've been fielding calls about it too.

Hi Everybody. Will one be notified here (this forum) when a corrected release will be available on Google Play Store (or elsewhere)?
I temporarily went back to a previous release (3.4.4) provided by F-Droid until the debugged next release will be available for common users.
Many thanks to the developers who work on this issue !

Can confirm. Lots of bugs since the last update. Everything is broken. Resizing window will switch between tablet and phone mode even though I'm on a chromebox with a huge 27 inch monitor. All network stream servers are gone. Manually adding streams via URL causes them to play back in a tiny 640x480 cropped window surrounded by black borders on all sides. Returning to the menu from a stream takes two key presses now instead of just one. Playback controls on the bottom of the screen are missing. Can't pause or increase volume or anything.

Please git revert ASAP, thanks.

I don't understand how you could release a version of VLC that is completely damaged. I also do not understand why it is not possible, even under the guise of version 3.5.1, to restore the previous version and work on the latest version, but it is fully functional?
The current beta version still has many bugs and is not usable in any way.

I can only confirm that testing 3.0.18.0 Release Candidate there is a new UPNP library (larger size over 1M, filename: libupnp_plugin.dll)
in C:\Program Files\VLC\plugins\services_discovery folder that does not display any DLNA Servers under UPNP.

Replacing it with the DLL from 3.0.17.4 release (signature from: Donnerstag, ‎24. ‎März ‎2022 11:08:57, 997k) DLNA-Servers in local network will be found again.

Thanks for the report. I just wanted to highlight it to be sure it will be forwarded to the people in charge of the Windows version.

Sorry for the silence, I am not the person in charge of that part. But I just wanted to let you know, that we are working on it and that smarty123 comment has been forwarded to the desktop team internally.

Hey everybody. We were not able to reproduce the issue. We really need more logs to understand what is going on. Could you please install this nightly version?
- armv8: https://artifacts.videolan.org/vlc-andr ... 6-0934.apk
-armv7: https://artifacts.videolan.org/vlc-andr ... 6-0935.apk

It will install a debug version of the app, with a green icon. Please reproduce the issue with this version of the app and then generate the logs by going to: Settings > Advanced > Debug logs. Then share the logs here.
