3.5 No longer auto plays after Bluetooth disconnect/reconnect

Postby jcrabitt » 30 Jul 2022 21:55

On my Android phone, when I would turn off the engine and get out of the car go into the store, upon return VLC would pick right up again after Bluetooth connection. It no longer does this. And no longer placeholds, but goes back to the beginning. It's very difficult to use in a hands-free environment.

May I ask if it was audio specifically you were listening to? Not video, mp3

Yes. Specific to MP3. I use VLC to play music via Bluetooth in my vehicle. In the past once Bluetooth connected the music would continue. Now it resets to the beginning...

Ah...ok, I think I have an idea of what might be happening. Let me give you the link to another topic where we went full into this

Aza's explanation I think might be what's happening to you:

Could you please verify that this setting is checked for you? App settings > Audio > Resume on headset insertion

Sorry for taking so long and getting back to you. I set resume on headset insertion and I still have the issue. I can't find anything inside of VLC to set that would change this issue. Something was removed/modified from the build previous to 3.5. It really sucks that every time I turn off the engine and turn it back on again I have to restart VLC and manually select where I left off. Totally defeats the purpose of hands-free. I took a look at the issue you mentioned with pausing for more than a minute or two and I've had that happen to me as well. There's some type of timing issue here that was modified or removed.

No rush on this. I found a new app that gives me the option of letting the service run or of killing it. I couldn't find that option in VLC 3.5.0

Thanks again Yoda for looking into this. I think it's a shame that modifications like this are made without giving the user the ability to choose whether they want it to kill the service or not.

Hello,

Have you disabled the Playback History setting ?

More > Settings > History > Playback History > disable

If so, please try enabling it again, that might be the culprit (and an issue we are working on)

Regards
