Beta on Android tablet won't uninstall

Postby hjkaye@gmail.com » 27 Jun 2022 02:33

Environment: Android 12 Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 -SM-T860

Was part of the VLC beta program. Left the beta several weeks ago. Uninstall from settings, re-install from Play Store, beta version is always installed.

Tried clearing data, play store cache & data. No effect.

Same situation on my mobile phone, uninstall and release version installed fine.

Always end up with version 3.5.0 Beta 4 on the tablet.

Tried installing on another Samsung tablet, same situation, beta version installed despite the account being withdrawn from beta. Android 11 Galaxy Tab A7 Lite

Reported previously, github bot reported ticket 18681 but I can't find any evidence that ticket exists anymore.

If you have adb, you could try "adb uninstall org.videolan.vlc.debug".

Anyway, the VLC debug app should be visible in the Android Settings/Applications (be sure to not filter out and see all applications).

Thanks, tried that, got Failure [DELETE_FAILED_INTERNAL_ERROR]

List packages shows vlc as org.videolan.vlc which I uninstalled via adb

The adb uninstall seems to have dropped the beta version. SUCCESS, thanks. :D

I couldn't see the reporter app on the Apps setting screen. If I uninstalled it from the all apps screen, it removed the main vlc app too.
