cover.jpg not displayed on Android version

I'm using VLC on Linux and Android.
I store album covers as cover.jpg in each album folder.
The album folders are stored on a Samba share.
While the Linux player displays the cover.jpg, the Android player doesn't.

Is that a bug or is cover.jpg recognition not integrated on Android?

I just browsed the source code.
While vlc-master/modules/meta_engine/folder.c takes care of the folder cover art recognition, there doesn't seem to be a corresponding function in the Android source code.
Correct me, if I'm wrong.

Do you have the same issue with albums stored locally on your android device or just with the samba share?
