Memory leak causing vlc to crash. Android 9.

Postby devansh2005 » 05 Dec 2021 20:00

Hey I've been facing an issue for such a long period of time. I've read so many discussion about it but no one is taking about facing issue on Android. The issue is memory leak which creates the cached file onto memory itself rather than creating a file to save it over and use it as cache file. I've been using android 9 and latest version from Google play store on both My tablet and Sony android TV both also with 2 gb ram. While I face this issue with vlc, on the other hand kodi doesn't undergo any kind of this stuff. Since vlc is an open source platform which has also made it the best media software and has been conquering the media market. This issue just doesn't wants to get fixed. I request anyone out There to please find a fix for this memory leak problem.

Vlc is just awesome :D

Could you please provide some logs?
Reproduce the issue and then go to: Settings > Advanced > Debug logs. Then share the logs with the sharing service you prefer (Google Drive, Dropbox, pastebin...).

I wasn't able to retrieve the logs when vlc crashed because the logs got destroyed... I was able to reproduce the error And saved the logs just a little before in time, Before it again crashed. Here is the shared google file which has the log file.. Kindly check..

Unfortunately, without the crash itself, it will be difficult to understand what is happening. What VLC for Android version are you using?

I'm using the latest version from Google play store. Actually the problem isn't with Vlc.. I have a vlc on android 11 and it doesn't have these issues... Maybe because the android 11 is of 4GB... I have android 9 my TV also has android 9 Both with 2gb ram.

Hey
To anyone Who is facing the same issue... I found a fix that Maybe, Using The previous "Stable" Versions of Vlc might not fix The vlc crashing but now that I've switched to VLC 3.3.4 "Beta 1".. I'm no longer facing memory leak issue... So if you're using Android and face memory leak or If you VLC is crashing try using VLC 3.3.4 "Beta 1"

Cheers
