I notice that some of the threads going back a few weeks are relating to an issue (that I have) with VLC renaming files and that a new release will address this (and probably others).
Is there a prediction of when this might be or is the fix proving troublesome?

Keep up the good work by the way, nothing compares to VLC, which I confirmed when I tried to find an alternative that allows audio passthrough.

Actually it is going back more than three months since v3.3.4 was released in Jan '21. My Sony TV only offers me the current version in Google Play Store (v3.3.4) which gradually becomes unusable as played file names all become the same name. Would be nice to get an ETA as no way of telling the version in Play Store from my TV.

Unfortunately, we cannot give ETA. The 3.4 version will be a big update though and it should hit the beta stage quite quickly now.

Is it possible to get a beta version of 3.4 on my Sony Smart TV with the file names fix? Nine months now and still no ETA for 3.4 release, I keep checking and 3.4 milestone been 87% for ages.

Regrettably VLC3.4 beta still has the same issue effectively rendering it unusable on a Android TV with a NAS.
