3 problems with VLC in TV-Console Vermax UHD300X2G (Android)

Postby Shmanich » 16 Jan 2021 05:21

1. Video in TS container cannot be rewound forward and back when watching TS via DLNA. Rewinding works if you watch TS from a flash drive.
2. Video in VOB-MPEG2 format (DVD resolution 720x576 PAL & 720x480 NTSC) slowdown every 3-5 seconds when hardware acceleration is enabled. When hardware acceleration is disabled, VOB plays without problems, but slowdown Full HD 1080p video.
3. A new problem has been found after updating VLC for Android to version 3.3.3 for TV-Console Vermax UHD300X2G. After watching any video via DLNA, its normal name, for example, “Mandalorian_02e08.mkv”, is renamed into an incomprehensible set of numbers and letters, for example, “1349gh.mpg” virtually. Physically, the file name remains the same on disk.
Please fix these 3 problems in the new VLC player for TV-Console Vermax UHD300X2G.

Today I updated VLC player to v3.3.4 but problem #3 is not fixed. Read above. Screenshot: https://yadi.sk/i/GbGUsnd8Egg-DQ
File "ABBA ZDF-Kultnatch.mpg" is renamed into an incomprehensible set of numbers “1304.mpg”, virtually. Physically, the file name remains the same on disk.

3. A new problem has been found after updating VLC for Android to version 3.3.3 for TV-Console Vermax UHD300X2G. I updated VLC player Android TV for v3.4.3. The problem is no longer seen. The bug fixed. :)
1. Video in TS container cannot be rewound forward and back when watching TS via DLNA. Rewinding works if you watch TS from a flash drive.
Rewind TS-video via DLNA WORKED, but not like in other media files. If you grab the rewind-cursor and press left or right on the remote control, then rewind works. If the rewind-cursor is not grab, and while viewing, press left or right on the remote control, it does not work (it works with other media formats).
2. Video in VOB-MPEG2 format (DVD resolution 720x576 PAL & 720x480 NTSC) slowdown every 3-5 seconds when hardware acceleration is enabled. When hardware acceleration is disabled, VOB plays without problems, but slowdown Full HD 1080p video.
This issue is still not fixed. :(

I updated VLC player Android TV for v3.5.0.
Problem with VOB-MPEG2 video format not fixed. :( Video freezes every 1-2 seconds when hardware acceleration is enabled. VOB plays without problems when hardware acceleration is disabled, but freezes Full HD video.

This issue doesn't really belong the the Android part. You should have posted it here: https://forum.videolan.org/viewforum.php?f=2

UPD Jan 2024:
2. Video in VOB-MPEG2 format (DVD resolution 720x576 PAL & 720x480 NTSC) slowdown every 3-5 seconds when hardware acceleration is enabled. When hardware acceleration is disabled, VOB plays without problems, but slowdown Full HD 1080p video.
Video freezes every 1-2 seconds when hardware acceleration is enabled. VOB plays without problems when hardware acceleration is disabled, but freezes Full HD video.
I updated VLC player Android TV for v3.5.4. The bug is not fixing. :( What this problem looks like, an example taken from the screen: https://disk.yandex.ru/i/s4jAehrjMqdazA

I discovered a player for TV set-top boxes – Vimu Media Player. It solved ALL the problems described in this topic!
1. MPEG2 and VOB are no longer slow.
2. AVC and h264 formats DO NOT slow down.
3. TS rewind works the SAME AS in VLC v3.5.4. It's better than nothing.
4. Vimu sees DLNA.
5. Vimu is capable of playing files one at a time or all from a folder, which is useful when watching clips.
I tested version 10.70 and recommend this player! :D
