Can't add a song to playlist

I always had problem to add a song
To playlist. Sometime it goes but mostly
not.
When it goes the songs name dont
Appear. Instead it only a number.

But to the real problem:
If i download a song from internet
I will be asked to open with a program, and
I chose VLC.
Then the song starts and, as always
before, i push the three dots and chose
Add to playlist. When i do this lately, the
song will not stick to the playlist anymore.
It doesnt matter how many times i try
, it just dont work.
Before i could, with some manovers
succeed even if i dont remember how i
did it.
I want it to work when i chose "put
in playlist" and then chose a playlist.
But it dont work anymore.
Do anyone knows why this is?

Ps. It works perfectly in Pi play-app.
So why not in VLC? It worked before,
And i want to use
VLC.

VLC looks in an MP3 file for information on the artist and the name of the song. Downloads and pirate sites might not tag their songs correctly. They also might not give the file a suitable name, though I don't know of a name that would not stay in a playlist.

If you downloaded to a temporary directory, software might assume the file doesn't have to remain after its use. Is the file deleted from your phone?

I suggest you download a file, then move it to a permanent folder and give it a suitable name. To get help with your playlist problem, you need to set out an exact list of actions taken, so your helper can try to reproduce the error.

Be sure you have version 3.3.3 so we are talking about the same thing! There could have been a problem that is now solved!

It's not a tagging issue. With latest versions of Android, when you open a file from another app, you don't get it's real path. You get a temporary "content provider" path that is only valid the time of the session. Adding such a file in a playlist will indeed result in issues. To prevent it, use the in-app browser to do so, or event better, let VLC scan your device for media files and use the audio tab.

today that make it not to work

Either an Android update or a change in the file manager you use.
