Firestick VLC Player can't fix audio sync after update

Hi,

Only just registered to add any info I can.

Fire Stick 4K (2020) with the same problem, unable to get to the three dots to edit the delay.

Software version: Fire OS 6.2.7.6 (NS6276/2933)
Fire TV Home Version: 6241047.1
Serial Number: Not sure if I can post this, but if it helps let me know.

Tried it on a few different videos just in case it was something to do with the length of the available audio track’s title, but no luck!

Don’t get any crashes, so can’t get any logs.

I've rolled mine back to 3.2.9 which is working again. Disable updates. Uninstall vlc and then reinstall from the apk.

how to disable automatic updates on fire cube.
I actually had this disabled but since it was VLC I said cool and let it update.

To make sure you use a legit version, you can use the VideoLAN Website to get the apk: https://get.videolan.org/vlc-android/3.2.12/
The variant we distribute with the Amazon AppStore is armeabi-v7a.
It's even more important if you downgrade because you have to uninstall the app before and the system won't check for the package signature.

About the issue, we are of course really sorry for the inconvenient. As I said, I should get a FireStick today and will try to fix it as soon as possible.

I can side-load the old APK but then VLC isn't shown on the home screen at all - neither in "My Apps" and needs to be started tediously and manually from the general settings menu.

Such a hassle. Can we please get a real, proper fix for this? It really sucks.

I sideloaded 3.2.9 and it works as it always did. Shows up in my home screen under APS and usually 1st in the RECENT line. Your issue is odd.

I've tried every button on my firestick and can't find the Audio Delay anywhere. We have two firesticks: one really old firestick (has the mirror ability) has always used VLC with no problems but the newest firestick I've always had to set at -200ms for the lips and voice to sync. Wish i could go back to the older version of VLC.

I have had this bug/problem ever since I got my 4K Firestick. All videos played on VLC require an audio delay to be configured for each video from between -250 and -350 ms. This is regardless of the video format (happens on .mp4, .mkv, and .avi files) and regardless of video size (old SD to 4k).

If we could get a global setting for audio delay, this would certainly allow us to work around the problem.

I also have a regular HD Firestick on a 1080p Samsung TV and all videos from the same source play fine with no need for an audio delay.

This is on VLC for Android 3.3.1. Revision 3470199f8 VLC: 28eddab6e (2020-10-06)

Same problem, these devices have issues syncing audio and thus I cannot watch any videos on either TV, looking for another video player that will play everything for me so we can watch movies on this cold rainy couple days that I am home from work.

Firecube Gen1 - cannot access the '3 dots' menu. The cursor just won't go there. I also tried my using cell phone, which is setup to act as a FireTv remote control, no luck.
Firecube Gen2 - we can access the '3 dots' menu but...it crashes the app and returns you to the FireTv home page.

And as others suggested, a global audio offset option would be fantastic. Each device respectively, has a 350-200ms lead on audio, a few files might be +/- a tiny bit but, being able to set a standard delay for all videos would result in not having to adjust the audio offset on most videos. I have the option set to 'remember' the audio offset but, it doesn't seem to work. If I start a video and set the offset then back out, and start it right back up, the delay option resets.

Followed this now running fine again , will wait for future fix . Average delay 300-350 on my cube

This problem also affects the ability to select chapters when watching a video that supports it on the vlc fire stick. It's only being noted now because its affecting audio and subtitle options which are regular used. Hopefully they all fixed.

Downgraded to 3.2.12 and it’s working fine. Hopefully they find a fix in the new update as there are a few people i know having the same problem with firesticks.

As I said, I cannot reproduce on my FireStick Lite. I should get an older one soon.
FFR the version used on my device is 7.2.2.3

I fixed it in our code. You will have to wait a bit to get it.

I plan to do a beta release today, so I will give you a link to a new version. When it's validated, I will update it on Amazon (but last build took almost a week to be approved by them...).
