Firestick VLC Player can't fix audio sync after update

It seems VLC auto updated as it looks totally different again. But this time When you go into Audio/Subtitle controls all you can do is select Audio track or select subtitle track. You can no longer adjust sync for either one. This is devastating. Is there a way to revert back to the previous version?

Brand new here. This issue lead me here. Usually I can solve these problems on my own. I assume I am in the right Forum as Firestick is basically an android and I didn't see a specific firestick section.

In the same place, the 3 dot 'hamburger' type options is where the setting is. However, it crashes the video when clicked.

The real question, that nobody is asking: Why is there no global audio sync or delay setting? So we don't have to change it every time a new video plays.

It has not been removed. It has been moved in a centralized track management:

Some logs would be helpful there. Please reproduce the issue and then go to: Settings > Advanced > Debug logs. Then share the logs with the sharing service you prefer (Google Drive, Dropbox, pastebin...).

The real question, that nobody is asking: Why is there no global audio sync or delay setting? So we don't have to change it every time a new video plays.

To understand this request: do all the video have the same delay on this device?

How do i get the log, as it's on the firestick?

It's seems all videos have the same delay. Other players have a general setting for all.

for all my videos on the fire cube and a samsung evo plus I have to turn the audio delay down .400.
after today I loaded up kodi and I had to turn the audio sync up .125 and its consistent.
I left vlc to run for a bit and the voices never synced up.

How do we access this centralized track management? I can get to that screen but will not let me goto the 3 dots and the only thing i can do is highlight the disable or track 1 to select them

This is driving me nuts lol, any help will be appreciated.

I don't really know these devices (but I will receive one tomorrow). If you have access to a file explorer, you can try to copy it elsewhere on a network directory / USB stick and get it back on a computer / smartphone.

You should be able to select it with your DPAD.

Hi Aza thanks for your reply but 100% doesnt let you do it, you can scroll up and down on the disable and track 1 and thats it, i also cannot access the subtitles part of the above.If you press right the orange highlight just disappears.
Works on my phone as you can use the touchscreen for the 3 dots but not on the firestick with my TV.

The 3 dots can't be accessed on a firestick. Is there a way to revert back to the previous version before the most recent update?

I'm actually on FireCube also, not firestick, and the 3 dots are selectable, but when selected, it crashes the player. No idea how to get logs off of it. Thx.

Rolling back to the latest 3.2 version fixed my problem. Working as beautifully as before the update.

From what I can find, blocking updates can be a complicated task depending on which device you have. I googled: Install older version VLC to firestick and found lots of options. Basically you need to sideload it or use an "aftermarket" app store that retains OLDER VERSIONS of apps. Sideloading apps on Firestick is easy. There are a million videos on you tube. I think I loaded 3.2.9

I actually had this disabled but since it was VLC I said cool and let it update.

To make sure you use a legit version, you can use the VideoLAN Website to get the apk: https://get.videolan.org/vlc-android/3.2.12/
The variant we distribute with the Amazon AppStore is armeabi-v7a.
It's even more important if you downgrade because you have to uninstall the app before and the system won't check for the package signature.

About the issue, we are of course really sorry for the inconvenient. As I said, I should get a FireStick today and will try to fix it as soon as possible.

I’m also having the same problem on the amazon firestick 4k. Not able to even highlight the 3 dots can only select the track. Hope this is fixed soon as it bugs the hell out of me the mouths not moving with the words

I am unfortunately not able to reproduce the issue on my FireTVStick 2020.
I should get an older version soon.
In the meantime, could you please give me your device model and FireOS version (Settings > My Fire TV / My device > About)?

For the ones having crashes, here is the procedure to retrieve the logs:

1. Reproduce the crash
2. Reopen VLC and then go to: Settings > Advanced > Debug logs > Start logging > Dump logs
3. On your Fire home: tap the search button
4. Search for: Wireless File Manager
5. You should get something like that:
6. Install this app (it's free)
7. Follow the instruction. You will get an URL to enter on your phone/computer
8. You will get this. The file is directly at the bottom

I too am having the same problem. No audio sync option. Only option there is is the subtitles and audio track. cant select anything further than that. I have a firestick 2020.
