Video Playlist Mode missing in VLC for Shield

Postby lemmy999 » 14 Apr 2019 20:11

I have 3.1.2 on my Android phone and "Video Playlist Mode" is still where it has always been

Settings -> Extra Settings -> Video

Under the "controls" section you get:

Audio Boost
Video Playlist Mode
Volume Gesture
Brightness Gesture
Ask Confirmation to resume
Double tap to seek
Seek Buttons

But on the 3.1.2 for NVIDIA Shield under Settings -> Extra Settings -> Video in the "controls" section it only has:

Audio boost
Ask confirmation to resume
Seek Buttons

I understand why the 2 Gesture commands and the Double tap to seek are not on the Shield. But I don't understand why Video Playlist Mode is removed. In the past I could select this and it would play all videos in a folder then stop if selected, and if not selected it would just play the one video and stop. Now the default functionality for 3.1.2 on the Shield seems to be the same as Video Playlist Mode is selected.

Is there a reason why this has been removed?

So, only in the TV version of VLC?

It has in fact not been removed.
The TV version lacks for now some mechanisms to play a lot of media at once.
Adding such things is planned for the 3.2 version and the setting should be activated then.

On the previous version I am fairly certain "video playlist mode" was an option on the TV version. I was always playing one video and then it would stop. After I selected that (or maybe it was some other option) I was able to play one video and it would continue to play the rest of the videos in the same directory.

With the latest TV version, that option isn't there, yet it still plays the rest of the videos in the same directory.
