VLC goes nonfunctional backing out of a lan folder tree

Postby pzbrawl » 16 Dec 2018 07:41

VLC 3.0 running on two Android devices, a T95Z media player and a V20 smartphone, regularly spins its wheels after (i) browsing to a folder on a lan (win7) server, (ii) playing one of more audio or video selections, (iii) backing out one or more directory levels.

The network is a Microsoft network with a variety of devices on it---win 7 servers, win 10 laptops, ubuntu laptops, various other android devices. All servers are available via wifi and ethernet, the bug occurs with both kinds of connection.

No other software on the network exhibits this behaviour.

It's been going on for more than a year. Each time it happens, we have to close VLC and restart it. Is there a setting that will prevent this annoyance?
