No subtitles found

Postby Cioppy88 » 22 Mar 2018 18:02

Hi, I'm using the latest version of VLC for my NVIDIA SHIELD.
Usually when I used the function "find subtitles", vlc found them in 90% of the cases. For some time I have always returned the message "subtitles not found". Is it a known problem? Is there a way to solve it?

Unfortunately not.
VLC ask opensubtitles.org for subs, if website is down or no subs are available for your video we just don't have them.

In latest VLC releases I added a retry strategy for subs dl, it should be more reliable than in vlc-android 2.x

This happens because of movie names if file has not perfect movie name then it will not found it.Same thing was happening in mxplayer so they added manual subtitle search where we can type movie name and search. It will be good if vlc also add this feature

I still hesitate to add it.
I like the "automagic" way of working. Asking people to manually refine search is a bit sad and less user friendly.

But I'm still considering it.

The wierd thing is that if i use MPC on computer it finds the subs on opensubtitles without changing the file name.

PS - For me after the last update i has never able to find subs (.en) again even when using the top scene release 1 week after....
