Cannot add share to media library

Postby Cactus Jack » 05 Jan 2018 18:31

Hello. I just installed the VLC media player on an Amazon Fire TV Stick. Two annoying issues:

I can browse my network to my QNAP NAS, access a share, and play movie files stored there. But when I try to add the share to the media library, error message says "Share not found" (or words to that effect.) The share is \\QNAP\FLICKS, and I've tried entering that multiple times with same result. Any suggestions?

When I'm playing a movie and select down on the Fire TV remote, I see the VLC options menu at the bottom (play/pause, forward, reverse, etc.) but I cannot always move the selection to all the options. For example, I try to select the screen format option, but the highlight will not move to there. Sometimes if I keep trying, it'll finally let me select that option. Any suggestions here?

Thanks,
Jack

So far, you cannot add distant shares to the media library.
