Enable Random Play - How?

Postby MrVideo » 27 Oct 2017 02:22

LG G3
Android 5.0.1
VLC 0.9.10

How does one enable random play for all videos on the phone? It certainly is not obvious.

There a shuffle (Random Play) option in VLC Android Player
Please Update VLC Player https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... deolan.vlc
It seems that I have not been getting automatic update notifications.

The old version has been uninstalled and the new beta version installed. I signed up for the beta. Shuffle found.

OK, I feel a little stupid. I know that I had found the shuffle (random play) mode, but now I cannot find it.

Just where is it?

When you playback, you can activate it in the adv options.

When you playback, you can activate it in the adv options.
If only that were the case.

After I read this, I started up VLC again and tried it again. I hit the orange "play" button and it started playing the first alphabetical video. Touching the screen, I selected the "..." button, and there it was. I also noticed that there were "skip back" and "skip next" buttons next to the "pause" button. I hit the phone's back button to get back to the video list, as there is no "stop" button. I then scrolled down. The orange "play" vanished. So, the only way to start a video was to select it. At that point, the skip buttons and the shuttle selection were gone.

I then stopped the video and scrolled back to the top of the list. The orange "play" button was back. I selected it. Sure enough, the skip buttons were back, as well as the shuttle option.

I found a bug. No matter how a video is started, all of the options should be there, even when the "play' button isn't selected.

UPDATE: Another bug... VLC doesn't remember that shuffle is set from one instance of VLC to another. In other words, if VLC is stopped and then restarted, shuffle is not remembered. That option should be sticky.

Oh, but you're using the old VLC! Use VLC 2.5.5.

Nope... 2.5.6. I remove the old version I had on the phone.
