cannot read smb share

Postby lvm » 03 Jul 2016 13:51

I cannot open samba share from VLC for android. I start VLC, go to Local Network, here I can see samba and dlna servers, but when I try to open the the samba server it shows an empty directory and 'This directory is empty' message. I tried creating a favourite record with explicit path to one of the shares, accessing the server by the ip address or FQDN with the same result. dlna playback works. Samba can be accessed from the same device using other tools, BSPlayer can open it too, VLC is the only program which has problems. There is

07-03 14:26:29.947 E/libdsm (27746): netbios_session_new, open_socket: Connection refused

in VLC log.

Samba configuration is as simple as it gets:

load printers = no
printing = bsd
printcap name = /dev/null
show add printer wizard = no
disable spoolss = yes
smb ports = 139

[global]
workgroup = WORKGROUP
netbios name = server
security = user
map to guest = Bad User
wide links = yes
follow symlinks = yes
unix extensions = no

use sendfile = yes
strict locking = no
read raw = yes
write raw = yes
oplocks = yes
max xmit = 65535
deadtime = 15
getwd cache = yes
socket options = IPTOS_LOWDELAY TCP_NODELAY SO_SNDBUF=262144 SO_RCVBUF=262144
aio read size = 1
aio write size = 1

comment = Data
path = /u
read only = yes
guest ok = Yes
hosts allow = 192.168.1.
create mask = 0660

VLC for android 2.0.2, Android 6.0.1, Samsung S5. Any ideas?

Tbh, I see nothing related to smb in your logs.

Exactly. To be precise, there is one line - 'E/libdsm (27746): netbios_session_new, open_socket: Connection refused', and I quoted it in my first message.

What is your samba version ?
I'll try to reproduce this issue with the same kind of config file during the week.

OK, I found the issue, this was due to the "smb ports = 139" option.
This will be fixed in a next release.

Thanks for the bug report.

So this problem was caused by blocking port 445, I wonder why I did it... Changed ports to defaults and all seems to be working including vlc. Still better to fix it. Thanks a lot.
