Vlc for Fire 1.2.4 (from 20th March) running on fire tv stick. It finds the Windows PCs in the network but selecting them results in an endless spinning circle.
The shares are accessible by other (android) devices and apps but not VLC. There are many reports about this problem on the Internet, so this is not an issue with my setup.

Yes, but Amazon refuses us to update it to fix the issue, so we're blocked.

Oh! Amazon doesn't allow app updates?! So is there an updated APK which we can sideload?
