Try 1.1.6, it was fixed there.

You mean the version that is at google play? I got the same results with it. So I took the f-droid versions for easy switching versions...

I have noticed that the Directories menu shows me :

Internal Memory
external_SD (no subfolders info)
external_SD (shows subfolders info)

Internal Memory opens and one can navigate correctly.
The other two ( I don't understand why this shows up TWICE !!! ) open but leave you with an EMPTY screen.

LG G3
Android 5.0 kernel 3.4.0

Yes, it s the usual issue with LG G3 :)

We don't have enough info, in fact, to correctly fix it.

Sorry for the long time, caught a bad cold. :?

To answer the querstion: yes, that happened with all streams.
But version 1.2.1 did fix it for me and streams are working again. :)
Do you need/want a logcat of that?

I discovered a new problem, but it's probably CyanogenMod's problem: playing a stream from the dreambox with a connected bluetooth audio device let the stream halt after a view seconds with also no audio.
This happens only at the device with CM12 (Nexus 5 with lolipop). The streaming on a stock ROM v4.4.4 (Nexus 7 with kitkat) doesn't have that issue.
Sry to tired for a logcat atm... if you want one I'll make one (going back to bad now).

Able to read a log, or connect to adb (even better).

Great, can you look at adb shell to list the mount (post it here) and what are the full path of the files of your media?

Hello, if this question has already been answered, I'm terribly sorry.

I've noticed tearing and lagging on higher resolution videos on my android Samsung.

Details:
Samsung GT-I9195 (S4 Mini)
Android 4.4.2
VLC v0.9.10

Video I'm trying to play is 1280x720,

Highest I've noticed that works is 1024x576.

Are there things I can do to make this work?

Kind regards,
the_killer

Thanks for the quick reply edwardw.

All 4 hardware acceleration options seem to make no difference.

the video format is:

Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part ten)
language: jpn
Resolution: 1280x720
Speed: 23,976

And I just noticed that a different video file does work:
Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part ten)
Resolution: 1280x720
Speed: 29,970

Edit: So the problem lies in the jpn part right? Does jpn mean Japan? Since it's an episode of an anime I'm watching.

Well, the codec is the same, so the hardware decoder should be able to do both...

I just tried using ext4 on my sdcard, this allows me to use git-annex easier (without using direct mode). Storing my music in git-annex means that the files *.ogg are symlinks, VLC can see the files, but cannot play them. Is this supported? I can provide some log outtakes if helpful, but I imagine that this is not hard to reproduce.

It should be able to play them, but is the git-annex backend connected? Otherwise it results in a broken symlink.

What do you mean my git-annex backend? There is nothing special going on, the files are just symlinks, and I checked that the symlinks were good by using my desktop machine (when I had the sdcard in my desktop machine, cvlc played them fine).

Here is a log extract that might help, the ogg file is a symlink.

04-06 07:58:18.602 E/VLC ( 1767): [798fda44] filesystem access: cannot open file /storage/sdcard1/Music/Clean Bandit/New Eyes (Deluxe Version)/04 - Rather Be (feat. Jess Glynne).ogg (Function not implemented)
Interesting that it returns ENOSYS (38).

Can the file "/storage/sdcard1/Music/Clean Bandit/New Eyes (Deluxe Version)/04 - Rather Be (feat. Jess Glynne).ogg" be opened by any other application? (e.g. head from the terminal?) What Android version is this?

Using a terminal emulator, what does

Code: Select all

ls -lh "/storage/sdcard1/Music/Clean Bandit/New Eyes (Deluxe Version)/04 - Rather Be (feat. Jess Glynne).ogg"
or something have to say about it?
