Stop the horrible title scrolling that's new in 0.9.8

The new version 0.9.8 suddenly starts scrolling titles from left to right.
Not just visually ugly, but it makes for a bad UI.

Here is an example list of some of 'my' podcasts:

BBC - Business Daily 19 july 2014 -Elemental business: Nitrogen
BBC - Business Daily 20 july 2014 -Elemental business: Oxygen
BBC - Business Daily 21 july 2014 -Elemental business: Carbon plastics
BBC - Business Daily 22 july 2014 -Elemental business: Something I make up
BBC - Business Daily 23 july 2014 -Elemental business: Something else I make up

I have them organized alphabetically.

Now try to pick the 21 july broadcast when this is all scrolling horizontally and asynchronously!

The proper way to do this is to let *me* swipe a title left/right.

And if you don't want to make that available, at least introduce a setting that lets me disable the scrolling.

Sorry but it was a really wanted feature.

Maybe we can think about disable this feature in the preferences, you are right.

For now, you can turn your device in landscape mode, it helps...

I don't know about title scrolling but, why does album art work drift across the screen for the current song like that? theres no option to make it just fit to screen?

I think that was designed on purpose; do you think it should have an option?

That feature request says 'Fixed'.
I just downloaded a let the Android version update itself (version is 0.9.10 revision 630a95b of 16 okt 2014), and it is not fixed, the titles in the list still scroll horizontally.
Very weird - the latest revision is 5,5 months old?

(Also, we are at version 1.2 already...)

I checked the preferences and there's nothing there. But now I understand. I had "VLC for Android Beta" installed and this updated itself only to 0.9.10. I removed it and installed "VLC for Android" which is currently at version 1.2.4 rev b7716f6

Hi

Resurrecting this thread - it's painful to have to wait for the beginning of the title to float around again.

Perhaps this feature could be modified to make the horizontal scrolling happen as the user drags left/right - all titles could still scroll but in-sync with the user's brain rather than some timer...

As you have resurrected a thread referencing 0.9.8, do you realize we are now on 3.5.4? Upgrading your installation might eliminate problems.

Hi, I am using VLC for Android 3.5.4 and I couldn't find the option to disable title scrolling (right-to-left). Sorry but, this is a horrible feature to have, especially when you are on the road and trying to quickly locate the song you want to play next. Long titles all scrolling, making it harder to read them. Thanks.

Isn't it More → Settings → Interface → Single line list title ellipsize? Marquee, which you don't like, is also Default. Set it to something else.

Well, it's better than the scrolling especially in landscape mode but the other options don't let you see the full title in any way if it's still longer. So a manual scrolling would be nice

Are u talking about that silly - Title shuffling - Yes I know its very Annoying -& I cant believe some guys actually asked for that rubbish to be implemented -

when I opened a Thread about - some guy said -"oh U need to swipe -something in settings " Little did He realizes that Im using the app for Smart TV( No swiping on TVs) -Not Stupid mobile phone - where all New versions -get tested On .. Please makes Testing of Android vlc - a Priority on android TVs - Not on phones !!!!

Also its Happens in all Versions of vlc android - Not just 0.9.8 !!!!
