Hi,

I just have a suggestion, not sure if it was already mentioned. It would be nice to have the back/forward buttons when there is 1 audio file in the playlist in order to be able to seek to different parts of it. Right now, those buttons aren't there and using the progress bar to get to different part of the audio file is a pain.

Thanks for your suggestion.

This should be implemented in the next version.

I have used VLC for Windows XP and 7 (Pro and Home, 32 & 64bit, AMD and Intel) and
installed it on a Ubuntu computer I built for a friend. I go so far as hiding all but one
access to WMP. I prefer not only the performance of VLC, but the way VLC works on
Windows and Linux.
I have a Barnes and Noble NookHD, no longer being produced. It is just one model later
than the Nook Color mentioned elsewhere in this thread (search found 5 results).
I will be trying again to download VLC for Android. If I recall correctly, the one time I
tried to install VLC on the NookHD about a year ago, was non-functional and I had to
dump it. I think it was only available from France (or was it, in French).
Any advice would be welcome, but I'm getting ready to do it now.
Will post full info as I accrue it.

I've found a website which has excellent media examples to test video players. VLC for Windows plays all files perfectly, but for android some have issues. The device is a Galaxy S4 with android 4.3.

http://www.auby.no/files/video_tests/

- Birds: playback becomes very slow after 6th second.
- hddvd: playback slow with Dolby 2.0, but even more with Dolby Plus 5.1
- Suzumiya: vertical japanese subs from ass tracks not even displayed
- Matrix: arabic subs not working
Working perfectly with BS Player

I'm trying to use trunk's debug build on the amazon fire tv stick, it can load the first frame but after that it doesn't do anything. I'll post the logs when I get home.

Pardon me if this device and / or problem was mentioned. I tried to read through everything and It is just overwhelming, I am new to this scene.

I just purchased an android TV, The files i am trying to play work with any other player, but VLC is my favorite and i want them to work with VLC if possible.

ARM Cortex-A9 Quad Core 2.0 Ghz processor is what i have. It s a skystreamx 4 box. I have turned off Hardware accelaration and deblocking and i actually got it to look okay but the file skips around. Any suggestions?

What is the chipset?

We don't support AMLogic chipsets yet.

Hi,

I am using VLC beta for Android on my xtreamer Sidewinder 4 box with an Airmouse remote.
The problem is that every time I move my remote on the screen the video image is forwarded a couple of seconds. Maybe this option works fine on mobile phones with big screens but it is not ok for devices like Xtreamer box or other boxes that are using Android.

Thanks!
I see the same thing on my Minix X7 mini. I think the finger drag controls are being activated by plain mouse move, causing various things to happen depending on how I move the mouse. It should be possible to differentiate between mouse move and finger drag events in the Android SDK to separate ordinary mouse move from finger drag move, but I don't know the details. Maybe it is as simple as checking for a button down event?

Anyway, VLC beta is still the best player for Android. Great work!

Eventhogh I changed to UTF-8, it is still broken.

Seems it is picking up this font which doesn't have Korean character.
01-03 12:38:07.408: D/VLC(7141): freetype spu text: Using /system/fonts/DroidSans-Bold.ttf as font from file /system/fonts/DroidSans-Bold.ttf
01-03 12:38:07.408: D/VLC(7141): freetype spu text: Using /system/fonts/DroidSansMono.ttf as mono-font from file /system/fonts/DroidSansMono.ttf

Font should be NanumGothic.ttf for Korean Character
How can we change this

Yes. Recently we've made large refactorings to the build system, so things are in a bit of flux right now.

I have Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 which had an update yesterday to Android 4.4.2, kernel version 3.4.0-3736606. The audio and video were playing all the formats I use, but mostly centered around mp4's. Today, only the audio would work. I tested on mp4, avi, and mov. but none of them played video, only audio.

In the latest nightlies, playback interface is a step back in my opinion. The white buttons used previously were simple and good looking. Orange circles not so much. And the translucent black background doesn't make sense. It's intrusive and distracting. Even if I just want to check the time it covers half of the video
But otherwise, material implementation is quite good elsewhere. Great work guys

Also I'm not sure why you decided to shrink the size of album arts in the lists. The bigger ones looked much better

The reason for icons in colour circles, it's because of Material (look at the Google Play Movies).
Translucent background is an addition for accessibility.

The album art hasn't really changed in size or it's a bug.

Thanks for your reply. Saw some screenshots of Play Movies. That's a good implementation indeed. I'd strongly suggest you to consider switching to a similar style. Play button in orange and the rest hollow white (or even solid might look good)

Regarding album art, I don't really think it's a bug. Was just comparing to older versions like 0.9.1. They appeared much closer to each other and hence bigger. Now the padding is much more so the image has shrunk. Would be happy to show screenshots if you're interested

Again, thanks for all the wonderful work
