Thanks for adding Equalizer. It is working well. Have a great sound. I still need bass booster like a market EQ app does. Hope Spatializer and compressor too added soon. Now Vlc replace other audio player in my Android. Thanks for your hard work.

There is an option for "Full bass" in the list of equalizer profiles. If not, you can manually tweak the equalizer bands to boost the bass.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 model number SCH-i 925, I was interested in installing VLC on it, but the Google Play web site says it's not compatible for some reason. I am currently using a trial version of VPlayer to watch my .mkv videos. However I have read negative reviews about the paid version and I would much rather not pay for something that I can get for free. I use VLC on my computer and would love it if I can use it on my tablet too.

Is there a way to force install it without using the Google store? I would really like to try it out. Specs for my tablet are:

Model: SCH-i925 (this is the Galaxy Note 10.1 with the Verizon LTE built in)
Andrid version: 4.1.2
CPU: MDM9615M Qualcomm 1.4GHz/Exynos 4412 Quad
RAM: 2 GB

The tablet is not rooted. I don't know the proper way to root this specific model without causing damage.

Any help would be appreciated!

I have VLC installed on a Denver tablet 10.1 (TAC-10011), it's a cheap and probably some of the lowest specs available for tablets. But I can use VLC and watch anime on it just fine.

I just had trouble with some mkv files, so perhaps the codec needs updating.

On a side note. I'd like to know if VLC would be available as an app to boxee box, or possibly something to acquire through repository.

Please be specific when you say "trouble". Is it too slow? It does not open? It does not render something correctly?

I'm running a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S4 (SCH-I545), Android 4.2.2, Snapdragon S600 (APQ8064T). I am running http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/and ... 2-0105.apk.

I have videos taken with the camera that are H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10), resolution 1920x1080, that if I am holding the phone in portrait orientation and open them, the sound is rendered but the video is a thin little line across the screen. What's even more strange is that when I take a screenshot (power button+home button), the resulting image looks normal: video is OK and the controls are at the bottom and notification menu at top. :\

Thanks for the replies, Jean-Baptiste and Edward.

I reviewed the trac ticket. I was wondering how it was determined that it's a Samsung bug. Could it have something to do, rather, with hardware that VLC isn't expecting?

I only ask because VLC (and Joe VLC Player, by Joseph Paul Cohen) is the only video player that messes this up.

If I open the same files from portrait mode using any of the other players on my phone, the videos play without issue.

The other video players I've tried that work are:

ES Media Player (part of ES File Explorer File Manager, by ES App Group, version 3.0.5.3)
MX Player (by J2 Interactive, version 1.7.19)
QuickPic (by alensw.com, version 2.9.6)
Video player (from Gallery 1.1.40012, apk pulled from Google Edition SGS4)
Video Player (by Samsung, version 13081601.1.00.03)
VPlayer (by Yixia Inc., version 3.2.1)

This makes me think it's a VLC bug.

Well, we did some testing and you can see the results below:

https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/8781#comment:8

Basically VLC's output reaches Android perfectly fine, as seen from the debugger, but it fails to make the jump due to a bug in the Samsung hardware overlay. This was verified as VLC works perfectly when hardware overlays are disabled in Android system settings.

Not sure if this is a Bug but still wanted to submit.
Testing nightlies on my Samsung WiFi 3.6 Player.
The last few Version (using 17/09/13 for now) lack the random playback option in music playback.
I really liked the option and so I miss it a lot.
If you removed it on purpose please re-add it!

I am a new user. I tried to fill in the google docs form but couldn't log in to google. It seemed to go into a loop.
I am using a samsung galaxy tab 2 7.0 running android 4.2.2 tethered to a samsung galaxy ace phone running android 2.3.6.
I have installed vlc for android beta on the tablet hoping to play music files from the external sdcard.
The good news is that vlc found the ext sdcard okay and it plays the opus sound files.
But there is no listing of the files. Search does not work. I cannot make a playlist. I cannot select an album. It just plays everything. There is no navigation.
Could it be because I have over 500 files on the 32 GB sdcard?
Thanks

Hello,

I just tested on the latest nightly build, and random playback appears to be working perfectly fine.

If it doesn't work for you could you please be more specific about it?

Thanks.

Sure! Thanks for taking care.

As I start Music Playback there used to be a "random playback button" which disappeared. All thats left is the "repeat" button.
I'm running Android 2.3.6 on a Samsung Wifi 3.6 Player. (OMAP 3620 ARM Cortex-A8)
The VLC Version I use is the ARMv7-A.

Any more information needed? I'll be glad to help.

Hi!

Downloaded todays version, unistalled the old one, rebooted and installed.
Still the same problem.
Took a screenshot, but have no idea how to attach it here?!? Sorry

I used to have the icon on the right, above the total time, right where the repeat button is.

I have downloaded VLC-debug-20130805-0105.apk, VLC-debug-20130921-1739 and VLC-debug-20130923-0104 for Android v7 for my Droid 4. Tried to install by choosing one of these from the OI file manager, but only the Cancel button works. Install button does nothing. What am I doing wrong?
