Play audio and video from local NAS

Postby tevion » 07 Jun 2013 05:56

I have all my music audio files in mp3 format, plus a large number of music video file in Vob format on a NAS

I have a smart android dongle U1A from Ebay, connected to my Samsung tv, I wish to play these file especially the video file on my tv, via the android dongle.

I have download and install VLC Player for Android.

My question is how do I play the file from my Nas via vlc player, or stream them to the android dongle form my pclos box?

I can see and play all the file on my PCLOS box

Thanks in advance

Paul

UPNP support is still being worked on, sorry. But you can follow its progress here: https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/7067

I installed mediatomb as the upnp server at my NAS
A Android cellphone has upnplay and VLC installed.

upnplay can read the media files form my mediatomb upnp server, and call the VLC to play music as a render (player) . But current VLC doesn't support playlist. It can play music song by song only, but can't keep playing.
Bubbleupnp works well, but it's not VLC.
