Yes, subtitles are fully supported and tested. Just put the .srt with the same name in the same folder as the movie file.

For example if you have a movie called "foo.mp4" just save the .srt as "foo.srt".

Hello, the subtitle support just does not work properly. I can rename the subtitles as you have specified but nothing is displayed. The MX Player displays the subtitles just fine. There is also missing an option to pick subtitles or enable/disable/change subtitles as desired. Please fix this, the inability to display subtitles reduces the value of VLC greatly. :( The example of the SRT file that fails to display (right from the start):
1
00:01:00,860 --> 00:01:04,557
I'm your destiny

2
00:03:02,182 --> 00:03:03,410
Stop it!

3
00:03:04,517 --> 00:03:06,417
Please stop it!

Nightly builds starting from June 17 allow you to select any custom subtitle file you wish.

Subtitle auto-detection, of course, was not removed and continues to function perfectly as before.

Hello I just installed the VLC player in my Acer Iconia A500, when play a mp4 movie, can not see the subtitles, I had a similar issue on the PC player that is fixed changing the Screen format, however in the Android version I can not center the subtitles, I know there are present because I can see the first letters on the right side but can not be centered.
Thanks
