VLC audio out of sync on HTC Sensation XE

Hello,
For 6 months I now use HTC Sensation XE. But as much as I would like it, I cannot use (the newest versions) of VLC to paly videofiles with it.
Audio for ALL videofiles is completely out of sync, difference is around 3 seconds.
I hoped for updates solving the problem, but so far nothing...

On my PC it is my favorite player, but apparently it does not fullfill my expectation in Android.
Is it a know issue?
Any solution ahead?
Anything I can do?

Please pull the latest ARMv7 build from http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/armv7-android/

Be sure that you are using the "OpenSL ES" audio output in preferences.

Sorry to be a dumbo, I have no clue what I should do when I click on that link. Normally I don't have my handset connected to my pc.
And where to set the preferences?

After a lot of manipulating, hardly knowing what I was doing, it seems I got the VLC update working on my handset.
And after some searching I found "OpenSL ES" audio output. It was the default option.
It looks like this newer version works better as far as the sync concerns.
But the start/paus button is not really very responsive.
Maybe this is a first time use problem, will check out more.

Other than this:
Most apps I use have an auto-update feature, doesn't VLC have it?
Would be so much easier to get the newest version automatically.
Can I?

In addition to my previous reply:
Teted the newest version more. Sound is ok now.
But playing is NOT...
When playing the pictures falter, every 2 or 3 seconds the images freeze for 2-4 frames, then skip those frames and continue.
The result is shaky, far from smooth.
Any improvement possible?

Try enabling hardware acceleration. Otherwise, your processor could be too slow for the video in question.

all my videos have this problem with vlc, but with other players i do not have any playing problem... I just don't like their interface etc - and from pc i like VLC so much...
