Second audio channel on Nexus 7

Postby Alen11 » 18 Dec 2012 19:56

Yes, whenever I click on the second audio channel on my Nexus 7, the program crashes. Simply closes the film, goes back to the little collection of videos. There is a split second before this when it says "loading..." Particularly frustrating when the second channel is in the language that you can understand -- and the first one isn't!

Given that VideoLAN does offer the option, I can only conclude that this is a...bug. Happens on all .avi's. Haven't tried any others because all the films I want to see happen to be in this format.

Am really hoping that others are experiencing the same problem so that it will get fixed:)

After a little Christmas break I'm back to this topic. Sorry about the tardy reply.

Using OL I was unable find any log files, nothing at all that would point to VLC crashes. I think this is simply because VLC has never crashed. What happens when I click on the second audio channel is that the player closes the film and goes back to the page which lists all the films as thumbnails, but the program itself remains open.

It says "loading..." for a second and then gives up. I guess it is trying to reload the film, this time with the other audio, but it can't.

1) Please try the latest nightly build: http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/arm ... -debug.apk

2) Please scroll down to the "Logcat log" section and follow it carefully: http://wiki.videolan.org/Android_Report_bugs#Logcat_log

In this newest version the films no longer close when I try to change the audio channel, but it still isn't accepting the other channel, just stays on the one that was on when the film started. Have tried it on several different avi's.

I will try out the logcat stuff later today.

Oh, OL File Manager does show the following log.txt file, for what it's worth:

--------- beginning of /dev/log/main W/IInputConnectionWrapper( 2049): showStatusIcon on inactive InputConnection

The above line of text was the entire contents of the log file. Haven't found any other Android player that plays a second audio channel, so I guess it's VLC or nothing. I still appreciate the fact that people put a lot of effort into this kind of thing.

@Alen11:

Hmm, that's not really complete enough :P I guess you can try using adb to pull the log, or try something like http://code.google.com/p/alogcat/

Hello again,

http://pastebin.com/62rZLMBg

using aLogcat. There is something I haven't mentioned yet. It isn't actually possble for me to close VLC on the Nexus 7. I can only pause the playback or click away to another app. When I re-open VLC -- whether this be later in the session or after having completly turned off and re-booted the device -- the video files are all still at the exact point at which they left off the last time. In other words, all files that have been opened once are henceforth paused. The only way to play from the beginning again is to reel back.

Don't know if this issue is already known or if I am the only one.

The log still seems incomplete.
