VLC feature request

Was wondering if a "continue where last played" could be implemented as a future once the app has all of the bugs squashed? I'm currently testing it on the Kindle Fire running stock 6.3.1 and so far it's been running smoothly. Will there be a version released for the kindle fire in the future?

I don't think it is... or else I can't find it anywhere in the settings. The default behavior for playback seems to be to start from the beginning.

I can confirm it works on a rooted KF; no idea about a stock one.

My KF is currently rooted running a custom stock ROM which can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=1439916. I was able to install the vlc .apk the day it went into beta testing and have been running it since. I can confirm that playback resumes at the beginning and doesn't pick up where you last played/viewed. I looked in the settings and there isn't a setting for that either. So this might be a cool feature if it can be implemented once the app goes official. Plus it would be good to make a KF version of the app so people that don't wanna root the KF can install it from the Amazon Market.

The feature has already been implemented, but please keep in mind that it will not work on network videos or certain types of videos (such as OGG).

What version is that you're running? Most of my video content runs from my Wi-Drive since of the limited space on the KF. Could you pls provide me with the latest beta release if there's any? Thx.

First, LOVE VLC for Android. Been waiting a long time for a truly good video player for Android came out and have been waiting for VLC for Android came out and showed all the other guys how it is done... and you guys have definitely got off to a good start. That being said, there is a feature I'm begging that you consider implementing.

It would be amazingly helpful if there were an option to sort videos by subfolder. The only Android media player that I am aware of that does this is QQPlayer. QQPlayer allows you to set a root folder(s) in the config menu, scans the folder(s) designated, and then displays the videos. However, on the left hand side, accessible by swiping the screen from left to right, is a vertical bar that lists the root folder (designated "All Videos") and then any subfolders (essentially auto creating categories when the folders designated in the config menu are scanned). Tapping on a sub-folder shows only the videos located in that folder. That is incredibly convenient since I have a number of sub-folders which contain everything from training video series to TV shows (organized by folders labeled with the show's name) to a rather generic folder labeled "Movies". Essentially the navigation would be something like this for example;

The ext_sd card is listed as \mnt\ext_sd
The primary folder I keep the majority of my videos is \mnt\ext_sd\Videos
Inside the \mnt\ext_sd\Videos folder are several sub-folders, \mnt\ext_sd\Videos\TV, \mnt\ext_sd\Videos\Movies, \mnt\ext_sd\Videos\Training, etc...

The nav bar could look something like this;

All (Videos) | default initial selection which shows all the videos detected in the folders designated in the configuration menu
+TV | Shows all videos located the TV dir, including the videos in the sub-folders located in "TV", the "+" indicates that tapping will expand to show all the sub-folders. Does NOT show the sub-folders themselves... JUST the files in one long list
-Lost | Tapping a selected "sub" will change the view to show only the files in that particular folder
-Bones
+Training | Another folder with sub-folders
Movies | No option to expand = no sub-folders detected so tapping this category would show all the videos located in this directory

The one reason I wound up using QQPlayer was that single option to easily organize my "view" using that feature. Is there anyway this could be added? (heck, it would be fantastic if the base VLC player for Linux, Windows, and Macs could have a "media library" option like that!)

Okay... it's pretty close... but not quite what I'm talking about. In the Media view it shows thumbnails of each video in the library, regardless of where it is actually located, right? Pretty much the same as every other media player out there. In Directory View all it does is switch to a view of the sub-folders, if any, in the directory you set as "Root" in the configuration menu. No indication of how many videos might be in them, no indication that there might be sub-folders, etc... In QQPlayer you have a panel that is revealed by swyping from left to right and hidden again by sweeping right to left. That panel is QQPlayer's equivalent of the Directory View. But it is far more functional. See my previous post.
