[Android] Folder Browser

Postby chinoto » 05 Apr 2012 08:07

I got VLC for Android from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=1517415

First thing I noticed when I opened VLC was that it didn't have a folder browser. That's kind of a let down for me on the music side of things, but the extensive video support still makes it quite useful.

I've been using MD Music (created by Oleg Kaydanovich) even though it was removed from the market near the end of 2010 (no more bug fixes :(). I tried other players with folder browsers, but didn't like them. I use MD Music because I can add multiple files/folders to the playlist at once (that's what the checkmarks are for), it uses filenames (ID3 is available though), and the files/folders are sized to show a lot while still maintaining usability. I hope to see something like that implemented in VLC :D.

It would also be nice to be able to see what is in the playlist, maybe even be able to remove and reorder songs.

For anyone that wants to try MD Music: http://members.thebestisp.com/~damian/l ... DMusic.apk

You know that this version is an unofficial version?
I have written in that thread about that issue.
The dev had compiled in the right way, but i think
videolan.org can't give any support in that case.
In that case you have to ask on XDA again, i think.

If you know what kind of CPU you have, you can try the official VideoLAN nightly builds: http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/

If you have a modern 2012-released phone, http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/and ... -debug.apk will work fine.

The lowest denominator would be http://nightlies.videolan.org/build/android-v6-nofpu/ - compatible with all phones but slightly slow.
