Update to Android 14: VLC stopped parsing ISOs and DVD folders

Postby tommik » 11 Mar 2024 13:21

Hi,

Since my phone updated to Android 14, the VLC is not able to read any ISO or DVD folder structures in Movies folder and basically gets frozen on the Browser screen / parsing media. I have a feeling this might something to do with file access restriction by the new OS but VLC has file access allowed in the settings.

So I removed any ISO files and DVD folders from my Movies and after that VLC is fetching and playing fine, as it did before on Android 13. I tried latest beta version of VLC but it is the same as Google Store version. My phone is Zenfone 9.

Please, if anybody knows what is going on, let me know. Thank you very much indeed.

Are you sure to gave VLC the "Manage all files" permission?

All files access: VLC - allow access to manage all files is ON.

OK. I just copied the ISO files and DVD folders back to the phone and VLC is now parsing and playing them. Very weird though. The other video files like MKVs were not affected by this...
