VLC playing raw DVD & CD over OTG

Hi

I have used VLC on computers and mobile devices but recently I have tried to watch a "raw" DVD over OTG on my Android phone. I use a portable USB DVD by ASUS and the DVD player handles fine when running on the likes of Windows however VLC on Android cannot read the files.
VLC shows the OTG device but doesn't read the DVD when selecting the OTG folder.

I searched the VLC Wiki, help docs & forum to see if there is anything and I could only find and OTG post from another user about access changes on a tablet used in OTG mode to watch movies

Does anyone know if there is some setting that need to be enabled in VLC to run raw DVD & CD's over OTG from USB DVD player?

Or do you have to use Handbrake to put the movie on a thumb drive ?

Short answer is "You can't get there from here !"

Use VLC on a Windows, Mac or Linux computer to "Convert/Save" and create an MP4 file. Copy yo a thumb drive, attach via USB OTG cable to you Android device and Android VLC should be able to play it.
