[solved] how to set default playback speed.

I had a thread posted in the general "windows" VLC discussion HERE. But I was encouraged to try The Luggage, the 1.1.0-pre2 build. Since I am now experimenting with 1.1.0 it seems more appropriate to move the discussion here.

I am operating windows vista on a mediocre older laptop, and VLC 1.1.0.

I was told there is a way to set the default playback speed in this version, but I was not able to see how. All assistance is greatly appreciated.
