buffer and full screen toolbar problems

Postby mehrotra.akash » 22 May 2009 17:14

1) if the buffer is set to a high value, the end of the video of the length of the buffer is skipped
i.e. a 10 sec video will cause a 1 minute long video to skip the last 10 secs

2) if during playback of a video file, you shift from full screen to windowed multiple times, the toolbar which appears in full screen mode after mouse movement stops appearing

using windows vista with aero turned off

I'm having the same buffer/cache issue. I have looked everywhere but can't find a solution.
So if anyone has any idea how to fix this issue - or just a guess - please help.

It a pretty big issue so I don't really know why no one knows the answer.

I finally found a solution:

Preferences -> Input / Codecs -> Demuxers:
Set "Demux module" to "FFmpeg demuxer"

I have tryed a few other demuxers but FFmpeg seams to be the only one working. (Suggestions for better demuxer is welcome)

.avi

And the solution I found isn't really stable. FFmpeg isn't working with all .avi-files, so a better solution would be nice.

I've been seeing this as well with all the RCs (and I'm sure I saw it with v0.9's as well), but for me its running under Windows 7-RC. It's on my test laptop that can't run Aero at all. Also, the tool-bar itself is displayed too low so some of it gets cut off (about half the volume slider horizontally is lost and I've been unable to get a normal screen-shot to show you) - this never happened with v0.9.9

The DJ:
What do you mean "This issue is now fixed."?

https://trac.videolan.org/vlc/ticket/2853 is down and not really telling anything useful.

I mean that issue 1 will now be fixed in subsequent releases. It was specific to avi files.
