Am i in the right place?

I have a need to catch a H.264 stream and a G.726 stream from an IP video camera and write the result to a MOV file on the fly... think spooling A/V from a security camera to disk for later review. Streams will last 15 to 30 minutes and then the file gets to close.

Am I in the right place to learn how to do that?

Thank you for your time,
Dave

Apparently I am in the wrong place.

Can someone please suggest a forum (VLC or other) where an experienced developer who has never done anything with live streaming video can go to learn how to capture a video stream and put it into a .MOV file?

Thank you for your time,
Dave

I'm really not competent but I think that vlc can do that.. try opening ip stream and recording it.. you could maybe write short script for that...

just guessing :)
