Extract subtitles in-time

Hi

I'm working with libVLC in QT. Recently I'm trying to use subtitles as information carrier which is linked to the video time, e.g. for gps-coordinates. Unfortunately I don't know much about subtitels and how they are connected to a video file. Therefore I have this question:

Is it possible with libVLC to extract subtitels to a string? If that's the matter, how? I've found only the possibility to set the subtitles, but my aim is to get a string every time a sentence appears on the screen.

Thx for your help and thx for libVLC, until now everything worked great.

There is currently no way to get the subtitles out of the video pipeline (you can only show them on the video).

Thx for the answer. Is there anything planned to implement this in the future?

I wouldn't know what other people plan to do and when.

That's quite vague. If you mean the raw text, then no.
