Hi All,
I am very new to video streaming. My manager has asked me to do video streaming from a IP camera (Cisco 4300). I would like to know the very basic steps involved in network video streaming. I did tried using the VLC Player for network streaming with RTSP protocol but it is giving me an error. Please help me how do i get started with video streaming for IP camera.

Thanks
Fairozkhan

I am currently working with an IP camera as well. My first step was to contact the manufacturer of the camera to find out how to correctly connect to it through VLC. For our IP camera we needed a string specific to the camera to pass into VLC.

Hi Fairozkhan,

Did you find out how to connect VLC to the cisco IPC-4300? I want to stream to 3th party applications but don't know the rtsp URL.

enter this "rtsp://192.168.1.6/StreamingSetting?version=1.0&action=getRTSPStream&sessionID=76203983&ChannelID=1&ChannelName=Channel1" in VLC MRL. Please note that you should get the latest sessionID from cisco interface.
