Dropping/skipping audio while using Bluetooth

Postby abnHorton » 27 Jul 2017 21:54

I'm having trouble with audio dropping when playing local and streamed mp3 files, but only when using a bluetooth device for playback. It gets worse if the playback speed is adjusted. If I don't use aout=opensles, the dropped audio problem goes away but the sound quality is really bad from any output device.

Are there any values that could be tweaked to help keep the audio from dropping while using Bluetooth? Is there any specific information I can provide that would help get an answer?

Non-authoritative answer but I've had a similar experience. I think some of mine may have come from low bitrate mp3s, 128kbit/sec. But I've also had it listening to streaming YouTube, the streaming issue was less mp3 artifacts and more buffering. When I would use a hardwire connection to the router the Bluetooth would work fine. The WiFi and Bluetooth are on the same card on this laptop, an Intel car. I ended up using a USB WiFi dongle that is lower performance than the Intel WiFi, turning off the Intel WiFi with Windows controls, and the Bluetooth on the same card stayed on. It worked, the buffering issue stopped. As for the mp3's, I just started transcoding them at 195kbps, IIRC, and they sound fine.

Our audio is all 96kbs CBR, but the problem persists on any audio file that I use from this player.

To be clear, we have an Android app that uses VLC player to stream and play local files, and this is not just a personal problem.

The VLC player currently used in our app is libvlc-3.0.0-1.9.6 and is a custom compiled version. Does your suggestion still apply? Thank you for your response.

Hello,

We implemented libvlc-3.0.0-2.1.15 as suggested and the problem persists. Any suggestions?

The higher the playback rate, the worse the audio problem is.
