License clarification

Hi all,

I kindly need a clarification about the license because it's not 100% clear to me.

We'll use the libvlc library for Android in a commercial project, without any modification: simple compilation and then aar file integration in our project.

Do we have to refer to the libvlc source code somewhere within our application? Should we release our application source code as well?
What about the media codecs? The application will run on smartphones and possibly TVs: will we be fine or should we pay some kind of license to use them?

Thanks!

For specific legal questions, I think you should ask your legal dept or lawyer, not a web forum.

I guess the forum is moderated by someone from VideoLan and since they have picked the license for their own software, I hope they could give me some kind of feedback about that. Probably they have been asked this question several times over the years.

IANAL, but, in short: yes, no, no, maybe.

PS: I provide consulting on those questions, btw :)
