sudo apt-get build-dep vlc not working.

Hi,

I am not sure I am posting to a correct forum.

The command 'sudo apt-get build-dep vlc' is not working. It says the following.

I tried all the available suggestions over other forums, but no success. Can someone please explain what is missing here?

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to find a source package for vlc

This is another way to get all the dependencies. Yesterday I attempted the VLC build using "Contrib method", but I got stuck on that. I have logged a question on this forum, but no response. I am not sure I am posting to a correct forum.

I am using Ubuntu 14.04

This was resolved after trying out on Ubuntu 12.04. I was earlier using 14.04. Perhaps it requires an upgrade from Ubuntu 14.04 perspective, if somebody related person take a note of this.
