mute on start with vlc 2.1x

Hello,
up to version 2.08 it was possible to set a playback muted before it was started (before the event isplaying was emitted) now after I switched to vlc2.1x all new versions are ignoring this. To solve my problem I also tried to set the volume to 0 or switch of the audio tracks but with the same result, the player starts with sound on and is disturbing a video I play on a second player. I need this because I connect to a live stream and will play something else on a second player while the stream is not already connected, so when the stream is connected I switch to it when the file I played is finished and then I want to unmute the stream.
is there any solution for my problem I do not see?

Alex

Maybe aout hasn't been created when you're trying to set mute/volume/audio track.

This is a known limitation of Libvlc 2.1. Update to 2.2.
