VLCJ on Web Platform

Postby vhugo006 » 06 Dec 2013 20:48

Hey guys,

I urgently need to make a decision about the use of VLCJ on a project, but have not found enough information.

I need your help.

VideoLan's official website read:
The project vlcj Provides a Java framework to allow an instance of a native VLC media player to be embedded in a Java AWT or Swing JFrame Window.

My need is to restore the Stream of a DVR (Digital Video Recorder) from a web application (even think of swing or AWT). For communication with the equipment I use the RTSP protocol, however, did not find support for this protocol even in HTML5.

There is a way to use VLCJ as a middleware , for example, to ensure this communication?

Your question is unclear to me. Do you want to use vlcj to play the video inside a web page (if so I already answered your other question in this forum), or do you want to use vlcj on your web server to set up a network stream and deliver that to some other client application? Or something else?

I've done both these things successfully, so it is possible.

I'm not sure I would recommend it as the best approach though, and the latter does not scale well.
