There are hundreds/thousands/millions of people that encounter many problem/error/issue for compile vlc.
Es: Download 2.0.6 ... no 2.1.0... with mingw32...no ming64... beta... alpha....hidden parameters for configure... headers to change manually of files... and MANY MANY other......
We are very grateful for Your work!!! VLC is a excellent open source project!
But your guides are not satisfactory! We can't spend 10 days only for compile (without success)! (I would like correct the bugs for a better and stable vlc)
PLEASE give us a virtual machine for compile vlc with ALL enabled without errors (The same where You compile).
With this virtual machine many people are happy and vlc stuff are more relaxed!!!
Thank You very much.

That has been done in the past, if I recall correctly. But this is a high maintenance task. The project is just way too short on developers.

Sorry, but is is quite simple to compile for Win32, if you dare using the latest Debian.
You are free to buy my VMs, though.

Hi there,

100.000% right amavlc. I spend also many days figuring out how to cross compile VLC for Windows without any luck. If somebody uses putty and enables the logging the necessary data should be easy to present. I will try to compile VLC myself and share this info online. From reading all post (JBK), you are most lucky with Debian an Mingw-32
Getting VLC compiled for Linux is easy, for Windows is a real drama. But that is part of the business model for Windows. ;)
