More precision when seeking

Postby glow8 » 04 Jan 2020 11:02

I understand that VLC by default uses rather big GoP (Group of Pictures) size. This means that when seeking, it finds the most approximate group, so it's not too precise.

I need precise seeking in an application I'm creating with libvlc but I can't get it to work. The only option I have found for this is `--sout-x264-min-keyint 1`, but it does nothing. Please note that I'm playing videos from HTTP sources, often in the mp4 or mkv formats.

GOP is defined by the encoder, not the player.
