LGPL HEVC/H.265 playback

Postby vicodark » 11 Jun 2018 19:48

After much googling I am still having a difficulty time finding the definitive answer to the following question: Is it possible to use libVLC to play back (only require playback) HEVC/H.265 videos under the LGPL license?

As in specifically not encumbered by GPL. Again, playback only, no encoding required. If this is possible, what decoder library is used? And how do I ensure I've compiled things properly so as to not include GPL pieces?
