stream UDP to a remote PC that is behind a nat router

Postby triplebit » 04 May 2009 20:50

I want to stream UDP to a remote PC that is behind a nat router. My PC is also behind a nat router. Is there a recommended way how to implement the nat traversal communication(I think that it uses tcp also and also more than one udp port).

Depending on your NAT port forwarding capability, you might be able to configure this statically. Otherwise, there is no way to stream NAT-to-NAT.

No matter how you look at it, a rendez-vous point is needed, and the VideoLAN project does not have the infrastructure (or the money to run it) to act as one (contrary to some Set-Top-Box-related commercial services).
