Stream source from cxm on freebsd

With no v4l support in freebsd. Would it be possible to use pass 'cat /dev/cxm0 | vlc ?? stream???' in the vlm telnet session??
I tried several diff combos in the telnet session but it just errors. I can cat /dev/cxm0 > file.mpg but would like to just stream from the device.
