prbm in pause

we got an videolan server setup and while i watches a movie from the client side and when i say pause ,it pauses and when i resume ,vlc resumes from the point and pauses for 2 seconds and start streaming the movie.
why there is a second pause .
version of vlc used: 0.8.1
plz guide me through this
