dvd menus issues when streaming

Postby rimvydazas » 27 Feb 2008 15:57

Ok, here is the problem. When I simply play dvd with menus, I can click play on dvd menu and play it. However, when I set dvd with menus to stream (udp broadcast), my server player doesn't show the actually movie and I can't click play on the dvd menu. I can't see anything on the client either. The dvd is stuck on the menu screen, and the menus can't be skipped. I partially solved this problem by choosing to open simple dvds (without menus). In this case, the menus are skipped and broadcasting works just fine. Now, here is the story. I try to make iso of the same dvd with menus and stream it (vod, broadcasting). I guess you realized what the problem is. When you stream iso, you open it as a file (you can't choose to use or skip dvd menus when streaming files). Now, again, I have the same issue; the movie is stuck on the menu, and neither client nor server shows the menu on the screen that I could click play. Skipping chapters and forwarding don't work either.
Any ideas how to fix that? I am kind of suspicious about the fact that I can't see dvd menus on vlc client and server while streaming (as I said previously, simply playing iso or dvd with menus works just fine; I can see the menus and can click play). Any ideas?

ha! I love linux :D It appears that you can open any dir (not just /dev/hdc or whatever...) and even iso as dvd from vlc. choose to open simple dvd, but instead using my actual /dev/whatever, I pointed to my iso, and here we go!
