How to control buffer size (or time) for VLC?

Hi there,

I am setting up a streaming server and sending a mpeg4 stream to a VLC receiver. Is there any mechanism with which I can control the buffer management at the client side? In other words, how does the VLC (player) implement the buffering mechanism?

I am working on wireless video. Your help is really appreciated.

Thanks.
Xiaolin

Have you tried to change the udp-caching, http-caching, file-caching and all the other parameters.

Thanks for your help.

How do I change these parameters? In the command line of VLC or the source code?

Thanks again.

In command line, or in the preferenceS.

Thanks again.

Where am I supposed to find the detailed explanation about these parameters in the VLC documentation? I prefer the command line settings over the VLC GUI.
