Videostream -> raspberryPi -> host multicast stream

Hello,
I want to use a raspberryPi to act as video-server to multicast the incoming video into the local network.
After searching in directions of DVblast I now saw multicat, but am not sure if it is possible to do what I am trying to accomplish.
The result should be to use a raspberryPi to play different selectable video files to multiple devices in a synchronised way.
I tought about either selecting it in some kinda way on the raspberry via smartphone or to stream it to the raspberryPi via UpNp/DLNA.
Can I use DVblast or multicat to archive what I have in mind, or can someone give me a hint in the right direction?
Thank you very much!
