VLS vs VLC streaming: Why not VLS?

Í really want to work with VLS on Linux, to support the students of a media academy.

I think it´s raelly neccessary to work with VLS as the streaming server, and not with VLC.

Can anybody explain me, why most of the people say that VLC is better? What I know, is that nobody work on the VLS since 2003 and that VLC is easier to handle.
But can I use VLC as a server on Linux? Isn't VLS stable or good enough?

Please tell me and discuss it with me. I will learn a lot of this topic in the next time so that I can help other people with their problems. ´But please don't tell me about Videolan HowTo or the other things. I know about them, but I want your (maybe other) opinions and other sources.
I think it is really necessary to get a lot of different opinions and tipps for the media world, because VLC/VLS is for free and can be a big help for all the media students and workers on LAN, all around the world.

Come on, let´s do it to another dimension :!:

For me , i love vls more than vlc . why so many people use vlc, i think is that vlc is easy to use.

VLC is easier to use. It handles many more formats than VLS, transcoding, more inputs... and people work on it.

VLS is good if you want dvb/network inputs and want to stream them as is in udp/ts. VLC can handle that too.

I think vlc is good when ur using it as client ....

Vls is good when ur using it has server .......

Now many peoples are in client side .... they don't bother about server ...

moreover many ppl don't hav clear idea about how to use VLS ....

Anyone having clear idea abt vls that is how to stream both video & audio in vls and how to receive in vlc ....
unicasting multicasting and every thing ....?

Tell me clear examples .......

it will be useful to make vls uasge more easy .........

my problem with vls...
